Dr. Sarah Dunnigan-Demchak
Dr. Dunnigan, “Dr. D”, is excited to be joining the PetDocks team in September! Originally from New Bern, she grew up with a deep-seated love for the coast and all things wild. Her childhood was spent boating to Shark or Sand Dollar Islands, baiting crab pots, and raking clams, all of which still happen to be her favorite past times. After graduating from NC State’s agricultural and life sciences program, she went on to complete her veterinary degree at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. From there she moved to Asheville where she has been working as a mixed animal veterinarian in the Appalachian Mountains. She has spent the past 7 years working on a wide array of animals such as cats, dogs, cattle, pigs, chickens, raptors, goats, alpacas and more. Her passions lie in mixed animal medicine, and she finds immense pleasure in being able to see all creatures great and small. Her favorite thing about veterinary medicine is the ability to help people help their animals and feels strongly about good communication and empathy towards all animals and people. When she’s not working you may find her playing guitar or enjoying the outdoors with her husband and one year old daughter, along with their 3 dogs. Dr D is so excited to be coming home to the crystal coast and cannot wait to meet all of you!
